Racism & Trauma: How Does Racism Get Under Our Skin?
How exactly does racism "get under our skin?" How does something like racism factor in when we look at health outcomes? When the original ACES study was done, racism wasn't one of the adverse experiences identified as the population studied was only 5% black. However, when the Philadelphia Expanded ACES study was done, they found that over one-third (34.5%) of adults reported experiencing discrimination based on their race or ethnicity. Child Sexual Abuse and How to Prevent It
April is National Child Abuse Prevention month. This month, in furthering the cause of eliminating child abuse, the Thriving Communities Collaborative's April monthly meeting will feature the short film, "It's Not Just Jenna: A True Story of Child Sexual Abuse and Survival."
