Movement is Medicine – Presented by Nneka Nnamdi of The Living Well – A dancer’s perspective on how movement and music helped her thrive in an oppressive environment. Examining movement beyond self expression, looking at it’s ability to develop feelings of esteem and worth while encouraging critical thinking and a sense of community. The presentation will include practical ways to use movement and music to foster self and community development particularly within traumatized populations.
Building Resilience in Teens – Building protective factors and resilience is the only known way to mitigate the effects of trauma and toxic stress in teens. Learn how the Choice Program at UMBC is using the principles of resilience to support their work with youth.
