DESCRIPTION:The Black Mental Health Alliance is hosting it’s 6th event in the Baltimore Rising: Summoning the Village Call to Action.  The Keynote speaker will be Dr. Gayle Porter\, a researcher\, author\, clinical psychologist and lecturer in the field of mental health.  An internationally know expert in the mental health care field\, especially with regard to African-American women\, children and families\, Dr. Gayle will be speaking on the major disparities in health outcomes amonst Black women.  She will also be discussing the often neglected physical and  emotional health of Black women. \nImportantly\, Dr. Porter will be talking about  strategies to reduce these health disparities.  Get more information about Dr. Porter and her initiatives toward improving the health and lives of Black women today. \nThe local panel includes: Katie Allston\, Executive Director of the Marian House\, Rev. DESCRIPTION:9:00 AM – Networking & Coffee |\n9:30 AM – 11:30 AM Meeting |\n\nIn response to the riots following Freddie Gray’s death\, community based organizations\, professional associations\, private groups and governmental agencies implemented initiatives to help promote healing and to strengthen communities here in Baltimore. We’ll hear about some of those initiatives and approaches as well as learn strategies on community engagement. \nFeatured Speakers: \n\nLynn Mumma – Director of Family Resources – Behavioral Health System Baltimore (BHSB) – In response to the riots following Freddie Grays death\, BHSB partnered with the Baltimore City Health Department and the Mayors Office on Criminal Justice to offer healing circles across the city. Lynn will be discussing this initiative and BHSB’s approach to help the city become more trauma informed.\nIvan Juzang – President – MEE Productions –  As a specialist in connecting with to hard-to-reach urban and ethnic audiences\, Ivan will be sharing a webinar he developed on Community Engagement.
